The QRS-135 is a low maintenance, portable water filtration system designed to remove a wide variety of organic contaminants. The base system includes two bag filters, two 500 lb. treatment media vessels, a generator, and pumps. It can also be customized to incorporate holding tanks or cells, an Oil/Water Separator (OWS), and sand filters, as required. Free-phase product is recovered in the OWS and disposed of in accordance with established regulations. Total Suspended Solids (TSS) larger than 50 microns are removed by the automated sand filter system. The bag filter system removes particles down to 1 micron, with the sediment-free water discharging into two, 500 lb. treatment vessels. Treatment vessels can be charged with organo-clay or granular-activated carbon to remove hydrocarbons or resin media to remove dissolved metals. The system is rated for flow rates of 90-135 litres per minute. Additional capacity is available as needed.

Holding Tanks

Holding tanks are generally used in the first stage of TSS reduction. The metered process fluid enters through the inlet pipe into holding tanks, which are sloped and domed to allow residue in the tank to be flushed out. The tanks are equipped with two PVC butterfly valves with Viton seals, and aluminum ladders with work platforms and safety chains.

Sand Filter System

A sand filter system with a self-cleaning backflush package can be incorporated into the QES-135 to remove TSS down to 50 microns. The sand filters start the self-cleaning process when the pressure differential across the sand media reaches a pre-set value or after a predetermined lapse of time. Automatic backflush cycles utilize the Everfilt control system.

Bag Filter Vessels

The Series FA-180-SA side entry, single bag filter design offers improved filtration and fast bag changes. The piping configuration allows for bag filters to be changed without interrupting system operations. Filtration ability ranges from 1 to 25 microns depending on the specified bag filters.

Treatment Vessels

Treatment vessels are fabricated from mild steel and are tested to Department of Transport shipping standards. All units have two-part epoxy coatings on the inside and industrial enamel on the outside for extended service life. Standard units are rated at 500 lb. capacity and have PVC internals, access ports, a vent connection and steel FRP fittings. The vessels can be charged with organo-clay or GAC (hydrocarbon removal) or resin media (metal removal). Maximum flow rate for the QRS-135 is 135 litres a minute.

Control System

Our specified control system allows for remote operation and minimal ongoing maintenance as follows:

  • Backflushing based on pressure differential and/or operating time
  • Continuous backflushing option
  • Programmable Logic Controller
  • Alarm or alternative reaction in malfunction mode (open a by-pass, shut off a pump, operate an alarm signal, etc.)
  • NEMA 4-control panel

Applications

  • Groundwater
  • Site de-watering
  • Industrial processes
  • Petroleum sites
  • Leachate treatment
  • UST contents
  • Rapid response

The Multi-Media Filter System is designed to remove 90% of all filterable suspended solids, 25 micron or larger. Twin celled, parallel flow-through with on-line backwashing of each cell performed independently of the other cell. While one cell is backwashing, the other cell continues filtering the flow. The FA-180 Series bag filter systems are designed to remove all filterable suspended solids based on micronic particle size. The filter system ranges from 1 to 50 microns.
